Dinner at “Akindo Sushiro”, a sushi bar with belt conveyors.

 Day 3 . All the applicants who had finished the semi final and the ASI members who had finished their General Meeting headed for the sushi bar “Akindo Sushiro Minami Suita” in Suita city by bus.

At this sushi bar the lane (belt conveyor) snakes its way from one edge to the other edge of the shop and the customers order by operating remote controllers. This time the participants freely sat at the table and the clerks served an hours d’oeuvre, sushi, hot potch, and dessert to them without operating the remote controllers.

The sushi dinner was on the house. The beverages were provided by Suntory Ltd.. President Shingo Torii of Suntory Ltd. came to Sushiro from Tokyo and made a few welcome remarks.

“I am sure that the quality of business, hospitality and food and desires in Osaka is quite high.”
He generously brought 18-year full body single malt whisky which has been vatted based on the unblended malt whisky in sherry barrels.
He closed his remarks by saying, “I would like you to enjoy this special one straight and sip slowly.”


President of Akind Sushiro, Ken-ichi Toyosaki made a few welcome remarks.
“I am pleased to welcome professionals in the fields of cuisines and sommeliers from various nations and regions to our sushi bar. I hope that you will enjoy our sushi. We will have the 25th anniversary of foundation of Akindo Sushiro. At present we have 267 branch sushi bars in Japan and our company’s annual turnover amounts to 76.4 billion yen (approx $760 million).
We are targeting the world best sushi bar by increasing some more branches.
Our company’s motto is “Good Taste and Reasonable Price”. I, myself, was a sushi chef. So I strictly check the taste of our sushi and still we sell our sushi at 105 yen per plate.”

Enjoyable sushi dinner at Akindo Sushiro.



All the participants enjoyed a plate of assorted sushi served to the table as well as sushi on the lane (belt conveyors).

Among 21 kinds, ‘Grilled tuna dipped in soysauce’ ‘grilled salmon toro’ ‘salmon with cheese’ ‘shrimp and avocado’ ‘salted beef’ ‘uncured ham’ and ‘meatballs’ were all served without wasabi Japanese horseradish.

The participants from Italy liked ‘big eel’ very much.

In the same way, the ASI members who had completed the General Meeting held for a long time from 8:00AM to 6:00PM were happy with the high quality of sushi on the belt conveyors.

150 participants enjoyed 2000 plates of sushi.
One of the staff said doing the dishes “We made a special menu for the foreign visitors. We are surprised to see them enjoy our sushi so much. I heard they said the octopus was tender and tasty. To tell you the truth, we made the octopus sushi by using our popular menu ‘simmered tender octopus’. We were worried about the speed of making sushi for so many guests but we could serve them quite satisfactorily. We are also happy.”
 
Vice president of the ASI (in charge of the European continent area) Serge Dubs made a few closing remarks.

“We really enjoyed the sushi dinner. It was absolutely delicious . It was better than anything for the participants to make a friend with each other. I would like to thank Akindo Sushiro. I would also like to thank the JSA members for making us feel comfortable all the time.”

The Sushi Bar venue was full of passion of the participants, media and staff members.

It stopped raining and the keen air outside was rather comfortable for the excited participants.
