* The nearest airport is Osaka-Kansai International Airport (KIX)
Probably the easiest and fastest option from KIX to Kyoto is to take a train
(about 75 minutes)
“Limited Express Haruka” operated by JR West (Japan Railway) is the only rail service between the 2 points.

A Limousine Bus is also available, it runs regular services between KIX and Kyoto Station (southern exit Hachijo-guchi). (about 90 minutes)

* From Kyoto Station to the hotel, it takes 15 minutes by taxi

 

Programme

All the tests (for contestants) will take place at the hotel (Kyoto Hotel Okura)

Monday, October 15th
Arrival, Check-in at the hotel and Registration
(no ground transportation provided from the airport/station to the hotel)

18:00 Welcome Party (buffet-style) with Maiko & Geisha performances at the hotel

Dress code : Suit and Tie for men, Dress or Pantsuit for women

 

Tuesday, October 16th

9:30 Departure from hotel

10:00 Visit of Sake Brewery (with Sake seminar) located in Fushimi area (Kyoto)

12:00 Lunch (Japanese) at Seiwa-so

14:00 Visit of Suntory Yamazaki Distillery & Tasting

19:00 Buffet-style Dinner at Chouraku-kan

        Western style cuisine with Japanese ingredients

21:30 Transfer back hotel (or you may stroll back to the hotel)

        Dress code : Business Casual

 

Wednesday, October 17th

9:00 – 12:00 Semifinal “Qualification of Asia & Oceania” (Open to delegations)

12:30 Transfer to Heian-shrine

13:00 Lunch at the restaurant in Heian-shrine

15:00 Transfer back to hotel

Free for the rest of the day

 

Thursday, October 18th

9:00 Visit of Matsuo-Taisha (one of Japan’s most ancient shrines where a god of sake is enshrined) and Kinkaku-Ji (The Golden Pavillion, UNESCO World Heritage site)

11:30 Lunch at Nanzen-ji Junsei (Japanese-style hot pot, Shabu-shabu)

13:00 Transfer back to hotel;

14:30 - 18:00 Final (Open to delegations)

19:00 Gala dinner at the hotel

        Dress code :Business Casual (during the daytime), Suit and Tie for men, Dress or Pantsuit for women (Gala dinner)

 

Friday, October 19th

Departure
(no ground transportation provided from the hotel to the airport/station)

Cancellation Policy:

・There will be no refund for any cancellation received after the deadline.

・For cancellation noticed before the deadline, we will refund through paypal excluding a cancellation fee.

・If you do not complete payment within one week after applying, it will be treated as cancellation.

 

Note regarding deadline:

・Booking accepted on a first come, first serve basis. We will stop accepting application earlier before the deadline once the limit is reached

・If cancellation occurs, we may accept additional booking

・If you wish to stay the night before or extend your stay, please make arrangement by your own.

・Rooms are allocated by the hotel.

 

Visa application:

Please check visa requirement of your country and apply by yourself if needed.

 

Travel insurance:

We do not provide special insurance. Please take overseas travel insurance in your country.
