About J.S.A. SAKE DIPLOMA INTERNATIONAL exam
Since our association was established in 1969, we have strived to improve the quality of sommeliers and other people involved in alcoholic beverages and beverages in Japan, and to popularize alcoholic beverages and beverages. Under these circumstances, the environment surrounding our traditional food culture, Japanese food, sake, and shochu, is undergoing major changes.
In light of this current situation, we believe that deepening your knowledge of sake and shochu and improving your skills will lead to the further spread and improvement of Japanese food culture, so we have established and has been implemented. "J.S.A. SAKE DIPLOMA Certification Examination", which specializes in sake and shochu.

Eligibility
You must be 20 years old or above on the day of the exam.
Nationality, occupation, work experience does not matter.
* You can't apply if you already have passed the same exam.

Applicants who have passed successfully the whole or part of the exam will also be notified by e-mail.
Examination Fee
Once we have received your payment for the exam fee and confirmation of your ID and photo, we will send you the textbooks and other materials.
We will not be able to ship the textbook until payment has been completed, so please make your payment as soon as possible.
You can issue your own receipt from MyPage.
Exam fee is non-refundable.
If the payment deadline has passed, your application will be canceled and you will need to reapply from the beginning.
Regular exam fee
Those who have already passed either Part①Written Exam or Part②Short Essay Exam/Tasting Exam can also re-sit for the other part without any time limit.
They have up to 3 chances of taking exams.The re-sit exam fees are as follows.

The textbooks are not included for those exempted from the written test.
For those who apply for membership at the same time
You can apply for J.S.A.member at the same time as apply for this exam.
If you apply for membership at the same time as applying, the membership fee will be half price and exam fee will be also the member price.
Furthermore, If you are 27 years old or younger as of April 1 of the year of membership, the first year's membership fee and enrollment fee will be waived.
(However, this is limited to those who have not used this benefit in the past).

Textbook
J.S.A.SAKE DIPLOMA ENGLISH textbook is included in the above fee and will be sent to all applicants.
But the textbooks are not included for those exempted from the written test.
If you need the latest version textbook, please purchase one at J.S.A. website yourself.

The venue will be shown on the admit card delivered to your home address at after the mid-September.

The exam consists in 2 parts and is conducted on the same day.

Questions for the exam are mainly taken out of the English version of J.S.A. SAKE DIPLOMA Textbook＜Third Edition＞ which is newly published in May 2023.
Questions and answers are all in English.

* We will not lend the writing utensils even if you have forgotten it.

Certification Process
If you pass successfully the whole exam, there will be an additional registration fee of JPY 20,950 (tax of JPY 1,905 included) in order to be entitled to certification and receive the badge/certificate.
* Loaning, transferring, or reselling badges to third parties is strictly prohibited. If discovered, we will take legal action.

Sending of the application form
- Please download the application form from the link at the end of the page below.
- Please fill in the application form and the admit card, attaching your photo respectively.
- Please prepare a copy of your picture ID issued by public office (governmental, municipal or any other equivalent public agencies).
- Please send the application form and a copy of your picture ID to the J.S.A. Administration Office via post or e-mail: sake.10.01.shochu@sommelier.jp no later than the application deadline date ＜August 30＞

Issuance of Admit card
Admit card and information about the day of the exam will be sent out to you after the mid-September.
Applicants without a Japanese address must email their application form and a copy of their photo ID to the J.S.A. Secretariat (sake.10.01.shochu@sommelier.jp) by the application deadline of August 30.
Please note that we will not send confirmation of receipt for application documents.
